Otana pistachios

Pistachio

The appearance of pistachios in Iran dates back to the Achaemenid period, that is, about 4000 to 5000 years ago. According to some available sources, the oldest piece of pistachio found in the world is a piece of half-burnt wood from the Stone Age, which was found around Fasa city (Fars Provience, Iran) and is currently kept in the Pars Museum.

Pistachio has spread from Iran to other parts of the world and is called by the same name in different dialects all over the world. Iran, America and Turkey are the world’s largest pistachio producers, respectively.

From nutritional point of view, pistachios are rich in vitamins B6, B1 and E, iron minerals, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, protein and soluble fiber. Pistachio fat is mainly unsaturated and cholesterol-free. Among nuts, pistachios have the most antioxidants (anti-cancer compounds).
